Mientras esperaba, recordé una historia.
Un cuento que compartían los habitantes
de un pueblo cerca de donde yo nací.
En ese pueblo vivía una joven recién casada
quien perdió a su esposo.
Ella estaba tan triste porque no podía creer
que un amor pudiera nacer y morir tan rápido.
Que un día pudiera ser tan feliz
y otro tan miserable.
De todos modos ella tenía mucha fe en Dios.
Y creía que Dios le devolvería su esposo
si ella platicaba con Él.
Ella, determinada que Dios le escucharía,
subió a la montaña para preguntarle a Dios
porqué Él le había quitado su esposo
y por qué Él terminaría un amor tan feliz.
Ella esperaba y esperaba en la cima de la montaña
mirando hacia el cielo
y a la foto de su difunto marido.
Esperando que las razones por la muerte
y la vida serían reveladas.
Ella esperaba una respuesta directamente de Dios,
pero nada pasó.
Y así se volvió vieja muy rápido,
esperando lo que no se puede esperar...
Por fin,
con corazón destrocando,
con una cara muy vieja y sin fe,
ella regresó...
Desde ese día le llamaban
"la joven con cara de vieja".

While I waited,
I remembered a tale
told in a village
near where I was born.
There lived a young bride
whose husband suddenly died.
She was so sad that a love
could be born and die so fast,
that one day could be so happy
and the next so miserable.
But, she had faith that if she
could converse with God,
He would return her husband.
Determined that God would listen,
she climbed the mountain to ask
why He took away her husband,
ending such a happy love.
She waited and waited
at the mountain top,
looking at the sky and at the
photo of her deceased husband.
Hoping the reasons for death
and life would be revealed.
She awaited an answer directly
from God, but nothing happened.
And, alas, she
turned old very fast,
waiting for what
cannot be waited for.
Finally, with a destroyed heart,
with a very old face
and broken faith,
she returned.
Since that day,
people called her
the young woman
with the "old face".
